CHR.Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Tapes

ADHESIVE SYSTEMS

ACRYLIC (A)

Acrylic adhesives perform in continuous
operating temperatures from
-40 °C to +177 °C. Benefits include
exceptional solvent resistance, excellent
adhesion to metal, superiorweathering and aging characteristics.
Acrylics have an excellent shelf life andwhen exposed to elevated temperatures
their ability to wet-out improvesthus increasing both adhesion andtack properties. Acrylic adhesives willgenerally thermoset when exposed toheat. The adhesive will then exhibit
increased strength and improved thermal
capabilities.

RUBBER (R)

Rubber adhesives impart high tack andshear characteristics. These adhesives
perform in continuous operating temperatures
from -18 °C to +163 °C.
Rubber adhesives can be speciallyblended to manufacture a broad rangeof adhesion performance from a lowadhesion of 0.3 N/cm to high adhesion
of 6.6 N/cm. Most rubber adhesiveswill thermoset or harden on exposureto heat and remain set regardless ofsubsequent temperature cycles. Somerubber adhesives are designed to benon-thermosetting at recommendeddwell times and temperatures – theseare indicated in the tables.

SILICONE (S)

Perfect for extreme temperature applications,
silicone adhesives perform incontinuous operating temperaturesfrom -73 °C to +260 °C. Silicone based
adhesive systems exhibit good chemical
resistance, retain electrical properties
and remove cleanly with little orno residue.

BACKING SUBSTRATES

FILM-FEP

FEP film is used for applications requiring
optical clarity, quick release, andabrasion resistance. FEP film applications
include high temperature coiland capacitor wrapping, compositebonding, masking, and conveyorrelease linings.

FILM-POLYESTER

Polyester films have excellent dimensional
stability, high tensile, tear andimpact strengths and ultimate elongation
up to 120% of its original dimensions.
These films exhibit low water
absorption and good resistance to oils,
greases, strong acids, and organic solvents.
They also retain electrical properties,
dielectric strength and dielectricconstant in continuous operating temperatures
from -73 °C to 177 °C.
Applications include transformer andcapacitor wrapping, printed circuitboard fabrication, splicing tapes, composite
bonding protection and low-
cost masking.

FILM-POLYIMIDE

Polyimide films are employed becauseof their extreme heat resistance.
Service temperatures range from
-73 °C to +260 °C. These flame retardant
films exhibit high tensilestrength and conformability, good solvent
resistance, excellent dielectric
strength and good abrasion resistance.
Polyimide tape applications includeelectrical insulation, capacitor, transformer,
and coil wrapping, electronicassembly and wave solder protection.

FILM-PTFE

PTFE films provide a conformablerelease surface and exhibit a remarkably
low coefficient of friction and nonstick
properties. PTFE films have hightemperature resistance and are virtually
unaffected by all chemicals. At elevated
temperatures, PTFE film retainsexcellent tensile strength. Continuousservice temperatures range from -73 °C
to +260 °C. Film applications includehigh temperature coil and capacitorwrapping, composite bonding, maskingand conveyor release linings.

FILM-RULON.

RULON films offer superior abrasionresistance when compared to conventional
PTFE films. Service temperaturesrange from -73 °C to +260 °C. In rotating
bearing tests, RULON provided a500 fold increase in wear resistance
over standard PTFE. Applicationsinclude bearing liners, chute and guiderail coverings.

FILM-PE UHMW

UHMW polyolefin film tape providesanti-stick and high abrasion resistanceproperties for application temperatures
ranging from -73 °C to +107 °C.
Applications include bearings, chuteand guide rail coverings.

GLASS-CLOTH

Glass cloth offers excellent abrasion
resistance and mechanical properties,
as well as high tensile strength andextreme temperature resistance.
Service temperatures range from
-73 °C to +260 °C. Highly conformableand flexible, glass cloth has the uniqueability to absorb insulating varnishes,
which makes it an excellent choice in
the electrical market. Applicationsinclude electrical insulation, coil and
motor wrappings and general industrial
applications.

GLASS-PTFE

PTFE coated glass fabrics providedimensional stability, high tensilestrength and edge tear. Continuousoperating temperatures range from
-73 °C to +260 °C and the coatingoffers better abrasion resistance than
uncoated glass cloth. The PTFE surfaceoffers quick release and chemicalresistance characteristics. Anti-static
PTFE coated glass yields improvedthermal conductivity and static dissipation.
Available with silicone oracrylic adhesives, PTFE glass applications
include heat sealing, PVCU
welding and low friction release surface
liners for conveyors.

GLASS-SILICONE

Silicone glass provides temperatureresistance from -73 °C to +260 °C and
exceptional tensile strength and abrasion
resistance. Applications includethermal spray, grit blasting, electricaland thermal insulation gaskets, heatsealing and diaphragms.

GLASS-FOIL

For applications requiring higher tearand tensile strengths, woven glass fabric
laminated with aluminium is available.
Applications include thermalspray and electrical insulation. Servicetemperatures range from -73 °C to
+260 °C.

FOILS – ALUMINIUM AND COPPER

Aluminium and copper foil tapes offerhigh conformability, conductivity, andreflectivity at elevated temperatures.
Continuous service temperature rangefrom -73 °C to +260 °C. Applicationsinclude aircraft repainting, EMI/RFIshielding, and electroplating.

PAPER

Paper tapes are designed to providehigh temperature and excellent solvent
resistance for wave soldering,
printed circuit board masking and hotair levelling applications. Service temperatures
range from -73 °C to +260 °C.

Strip-N-Stick.
(SILICONE RUBBER)

Strip-N-Stick tape provides all the benefits
of silicone rubber in an easy toapply, pressure-sensitive adhesivetape. Available in closed-cell sponge,
low-density foam, or solid silicone,
these products offer superior servicelife, excellent conformability and flexibility,
low-compression set and highadhesion to a variety of materials.
Service temperatures range from
-73 °C to +260 °C dependant on theadhesive. Available with silicone or
acrylic adhesives, Strip-N-Stick tape isexcellent for high and low temperature
gasket applications, cushioning,
thermal insulation, electrical isolation,
and vibration dampening.

RELEASE LINERS

FLUOROSILICONE

This release liner incorporatesadvanced release technology for usewith silicone adhesives. As a flat, diecutable
liner, it has exceptional releaseproperties, making it an ideal choicefor small or complex parts.

POLYETHYLENE

These thin release liners not only conform
well to tape, but slit and releaseeasily, making them a sensible choicefor die-cutting. Available with acrylicor r
